Transforming Dublin Airport

T2

Terminal Two (T2) is a three-storey, 75,000 square metre building that sits astride the access road to Terminal One.

The overall T2 complex includes the terminal building itself; a 400 metre-long departures gate area known as Pier E; a dedicated, energy efficient power plant; and the roads and kerbs and aircraft parking space required for landside and airside access to the new buildings.

The budget for the terminal building is €395m and for the wider complex, €609m.

T2 is designed to meet the needs of long-haul and short-haul passengers and other users in a 21st century building, offering appropriate levels of space, light, comfort and service options. T2 has been benchmarked to offer the same level of comfort and choice as peer airports in Europe such as Copenhagen, Vienna, Manchester and Zurich.

The new terminal will be served by its own dedicated arrivals and departures roads. It comprises a check-in hall and a departures hall, linked by a bridge that forms the central spine of the building. It is this bridge that spans the access road to Terminal One.

T2 will be linked to Terminal One both landside and airside, allowing transfer passengers to move conveniently to various boarding gate piers when required.

T2 is designed to cater for 12-15 million passengers per annum, which combined with a comfortable throughput in the existing terminal, will bring the overall passenger capacity at the airport to approximately 35 million per year.
